Sunscreen: The Very Best Advice

Exposure to the sun and its ultraviolet rays is the most harmful thing you can do to your skin. Many people have had skin cancer as a direct result of too much sun exposure. Imagine, you are trying to reduce the signs of aging or attempting to bronze the tone of your skin and you end up with a cancerous cyst on your face or body that has to be removed. Take great care of your skin—especially if you are going to be outdoors, even just for a little while.

They say that wearing sunglasses any time you are outside during the day is a very good idea. But you must choose carefully which kind of sunglasses you purchase, because if they do not have a certain percent of UV protection, they will not work as well as they should. You want the highest quality sunglasses you can get. However, as you know wearing a good pair of sunglasses does not take the place of wearing sunscreen. You will always want the sunscreen, and you may want both. Both methods of protection used together are the preferable, and most recommended course of action to take against the harmful effects of the sun.

Of course, the skin care manufacturers and professionals at the beauty counters in department stores or of the skin care products in the make-up isle of your local grocery store have caught on to this public spread of skin care awareness and have adapted their products accordingly.

Almost every make-up base has an SFP of some sort— some of them contain amounts of sunscreen as low as SPF 5, but usually the SPF level is somewhere in the vicinity of SPF 15. By this method, many make-up manufacturers believe that more women will buy their products instead of opting for a shiny face and smelling like the local pool.

The same is true for moisturizers. You can find daytime moisturizers in both expensive and inexpensive stores that also contain SPF levels, again usually SPF 15. It is recommended that you wear these moisturizers alone or underneath your make-up.

So that takes care of your face, whether you shop at inexpensive stores or at stores that are a bit more expensive—what you really need is that SPF. But now what about the rest of you? What about your arms and legs and belly showing in the sun? Remember to purchase plenty of sunscreen this season for you and your kids’ protection. And, believe it or not it is recommended that one wear sunscreen even in the wintertime or on a cloudy day. The sun is still there, and as a matter of fact, it has been said that the sun can be worse on your skin when the sky is slightly cloudy because the UV rays have a sort of prism-effect as they penetrate the clouds, magnifying the UV damage that can be caused to the skin.

Mainly my point is, protect yourself and your family. No matter how small or seemingly trivial the errand may be—even if you are just running in and out of the store, use sunscreen and keep yourself safe.

3 Steps To Natural Summer Makeup

Summer demands fuss free makeup. A naturally pretty look that would not streak when you sweat. Something that is low maintainence and which looks great on the beach.

The trouble is, that carefree, nude makeup look is a lot harder to achieve than a painted face. How do you use makeup and look like you were born that way?

Start by taking care of your skin now. Your body is made up of what you eat and drink. Eat junk food and drink lots of sweet carbonated water and caffeine, and that's what your body has to work with. Your skin reflects the state of your health. If your body is full of junk, your skin is likely to be spotty, congested or at least, far from its best. You might get away with it while you are young, but sooner or later, your excesses would catch up with you.

Skip the cola. Drink lots of plain water, spring water or mineral water instead. Get a two liter bottle of mineral water, or fill a 2 liter bottle with drinking water and make it a point to finish that by the end of the day. If you can't tolerate plain water, squeeze a lemon and add that lemon juice to your water to flavor it. This would give your body a chance to clean out the junk.

Next, cut down on that junk food.Oily fries with an oily burger is going to load your body with more grease. If your skin is spotty, it might help if you cut down on the grease and sugar. By the way, bacteria loves sugar and you can thank bacteria for those infected spots on your face. Stop feeding the bacteria, keep your hands and hair off your face and let your skin recover. Great summer makeup is best achieved with good skin, so the sooner you start, the better for you.

Now for the actual makeup. If you take care of your skin, putting on that natural beach makeup would be very simple.

Step 1 - Perfect with concealer

Depending on the state of your skin, you may or may not need concealer. If your skin is great, just use a tinted moisturizer like Burt's Bees moisturizer to add color to your face. Pick a shade as close to your natural coloring as possible.

If you have zits, then use a brush and dab on a little concealer over it. If you have dark rings, hide them with a concealer as well. Use as little as possible to keep your look natural.

Step 2 - Paint with lipstick

Make your lips thoroughly kissable. Soft, rosy lips that glisten in the sun are perfect for summer... and all year round.

You'll need a touch of lipstick to add color to your bare face. Go for a pretty color like coral, rose, or a soft pink. The trick is to look in the mirror and see the color inside your lip. Pick your lipstick in a color similar to that for the most natural, prettiest look.

Take a lip brush and paint on the lipstick. Start by drawing the outline of your lips with the lip brush, then fill then in. Blot the lipstick with a tissue paper, then apply again. This would help the color stay on longer. Slick on a lip gloss for shine over the entire lips, or at least over the center of your bottom lip to make your lips look fuller.

Step 3 - Highlight with mascara

Bring the focus to your eyes. Your eyes are your best asset. Especially when framed by lush eyelashes. Since it is summer, go for a waterproof mascara. Make sure you get a good eye makeup remover to remove it each night before you sleep.

Get ready a clean mascara wand to separate your lashes. You can wash and dry the wand of an old mascara, or you could buy an eyelash comb.

Apply mascara over your upper lashes. Then touch a little mascara on your lower lashes with the tip of your mascara wand. Separate the lashes with a clean mascara brush or wand and let the mascara dry. Once the mascara is completely dry, you may apply a second coat if you want more dramatic lashes. Separate the lashes after this second coat as well.

Winter 2008 Makeup Tips

Who doesn't look forward to the new styles that pop up every fall? As we tuck away our light, bright summer shades we turn our eyes towards colors resplendent of the leaves falling around us. This winter there are several distinct styles inspired by the runway, and we'll walk through the best winter 2008 makeup tips.

Brows: This season lush, natural brows are in. No more over-plucked, super-skinny brows. The first thing to do is let your brows grow in if they are that thin. Then begin reshaping them. Oh, yes. Natural does not equal bushy, so it's still important to shape them according to your natural arch. If you're not comfortable doing it, try a spa or salon that specializes in waxing. It's worth the money not to have to do it yourself.

Are your brows naturally thin or not growing back in quickly enough (or at all)? No problem. Invest in an eyebrow powder or pencil. The trick to application is to make the makeup look like a natural part of your eyebrow. A firm eyebrow brush is usually the ticket. After applying your eyebrow color brush from the inside of your eyebrow out until the distinct makeup appearance fades.

Eye Shadow: Winter 2008 makeup tips bring back the smoky eye. The twist is using bright, bold and eye-catching shades in addition to your normal smoky eye. Grey, silver, blue and teal (reminiscent of the 70's) are all waiting for you to pick them up. These are very bold looks, and you might be a little wary of going full-throttle. Not a problem.

Why not stick to this season's other gorgeous colors? Bronze, burgundy, coral, deep green and deep purple are fabulous bold colors that aren't overpowering. Matte shades, a hint of sparkle or glitter encrusted are all acceptable, so go wild! Try something subtle like gray with a splash of teal or bronze with burgundy.

Eye Liner: Winter 2008 makeup tips also include eyeliner straight off the catwalk. Try liquid eyeliner for a graphic design or to get that really precise shape. There are new shapes to try this season; blunt edges and square in addition to the traditional "cat eye" swoop and taper tail. If liquid eyeliner isn't your thing, don't hesitate to use a powder or pencil liner for a softer line and less edginess. Either way, to perfect this season's styles invest in eye liner.

Lips: Let's take advantage of this year's trend and move away from shiny lipgloss and focus on stains. Vibrant and deep colors in a sheer stain are a gorgeous way to bring your lips to the center of attention. Red, burgundy, cherry and garnet stains will add a youthful perkiness to your pucker without leaving your lips looking garish. Pick up your favorite lipstick and apply it in the middle of your lips. Then use a lip brush and brush it out to the corners and the lip line. Ta dah!

Conversely, lips can also go nude and nearly colorless this season. If you go bold lips do neutral eyes. If you do bold eyes keep your lips nude. One or the other, but not both.
Finally, top your lashes with a dark mascara to open your eyes regardless of what eye shadow you're wearing and you're set.

Eye Liner Colors - Defining Eyes With Beauty & Style

Eye liners make your eyes stand out by accentuating them. You can define the shape of your eyes with boldness or soft focus appeal. How you apply eyeliner and with what colors set the look that you will achieve. Your individual taste will determine the amount of liner you wear.

You can define the shape of your eyes with boldness or highlights depending on the shade or color selected. Highlighting with liners can downplay other less appealing facial features. Don't attempt to change the shape of your eyes but use the liner to emphasize what you have.

For dramatic & glamorous eyes, use rich, dark and vivid colors. Draw even lines as close to the lashes as possible while remembering that darker colors leave no room for lining mistakes. Always brace your wrist and tilt your head slightly before applying the liner as this will create a good angle for application while allowing you to see what your doing. On the top lid, draw from corner to corner with a even stroke for a precise line. Use several smaller strokes just under the bottom lash. This will give a soft natural line with effortless application.

When lining your eyes, don't allow the top and bottom lines to meet. This will tend to make your eyes look smaller then they are. Try blending the top and bottom corners together with a shadow that is several shades lighter than the liner.

The darker the color, the more dramatic your look will become. If you have applied to much and your look seems to harsh, take a small eye shadow brush with a sponge tip and gently smudge the top & bottom lines. It will create softness to your eyes. You might try to practice on your arm or hand prior to applying to your eyes.

Mineral Liners are gentler on your skin then pencil liners. Pencil liners tend to pull the delicate skin around your eye. Great definition is accomplished by mixing mineral liners with water and applying them wet. Place one or two drops of water in the lid of the minerals and gently swirl you brush mixing them. Then glide the brush in one smooth continuous line. This will give precise definition. Avoid using short strokes with wet liners. It tends to look messy and uneven.

Lining the inside of your lids are not recommended as it can cause a host of problems including eye infections. Avoid sharing your liners with others due to bacteria spreading from one person to another. Always wash your liner brush when applying new colors. Even the smallest amount of color left on the brush can alter the color your testing.

Experiment with a wide variety of vivid shades to make your sultry eyes stand out. Blue, soft grays or soft black colors beautifully accent light eyes, while brown and plum colors intensify brown & green eyes. Whether you choose a soft focus finish or a more dramatic bold look, start slowly and work with the natural shape of your eyes building the color and depth as you go. Use eye shadow colors and liners that compliments the color of your eyes so that your eyes & face are brought together for stunning beauty.

Beauty Tips to Look Younger

There is no question that being a youngster is hard. The stress of making important choices about the future, romantic entanglements, a changing body, a first job, driving lessons, & so many other limitless items only serve to craft the teenage years more complex. One thing that doesn't have to add not needed pressure to an already frantic life is make up application. The following make up tips for youngsters cover a multitude of problems. Superior yet, these Make up tips will assist in avoiding general mistakes made by immature women learning to use Make up for the first time.

Make up Tip #1: Covering Basic Problems

• Concealed

• Powder

• Foundation

Acne is the plague of youth, but with the above items, most pimples can be covered well if not completely. The key is to choose both concealed & foundation that matches your skin tone. It is ideal to have a professional consultation performed to determine the perfect shade for your skin. If money is a concern, you can ask for samples from the area store performing the conference & use those samples to locate similar shades in less costly, drugstore brand make up.

Make up Tip #2: Read Your Lips

• Lip liner

• Lip gloss

Painting lips should be left sweet & simple. Select a lighter shade of lip liner & line all about the lips. Be careful not to line on the outside of the lips - simply stick to what nature gave you. Fill in the lips with the liner & then wrap with a pale gloss. Don't go overboard with lips color lest you be left with Kool-Aid lips for the remaining day.

Make up Tip #3: Adding Color

• Shimmer

• Blush

• Bronzer

Using just one of the above items will enhance a youngster's face delicately yet considerably. Blush, when used along the cheek bone, can create definition where there is none. When used on the apples of the cheeks (that is the area between the cheekbone, eyes, & nose), it can add plumpness to faces that may be drawn.

Shimmer can be applied to the T-Zone with excellent results, & bronzer can be used all over to create a natural looking glow. It is important that, whichever of the three items that are chosen, they are used sparingly so as to not look excessively done, & to let your normal beauty excel through.

3 Makeup Styles For Parties

Going for a Christmas party, a new year party or a birthday party? How are you going to do your makeup?

A look at the models on the catwalks of some of the more flamboyant fashion shows reminds one of a cross between Tinkerbell and Xena, the warrior princess. You know, Amazonian height but with fairy makeup.

Now that is a look which is perfect for parties. All you need is shimmer makeup.
A point to note. Anyone above forty should avoid all out shimmer as while the shine highlights facial features, it also draws attention to existing fine lines and wrinkles. If you are young and your face is line-free, fantasy makeup is the way to go.

Makeup Style #1. Fantasy Makeup.

For that ethereal look, get a shimmery eye shadow or a shimmer powder in silver, gold, bronze, or any flattering color that captures your fancy. You would also need a brilliant lip gloss to go over your lipstick.

Wear a lipstick that you like, which flatters you. Then go over it with the shimmery gloss. Add some shimmer powder or gold or silver flecks to the center of your lip to emphasize your pout.
For the eyes, how far dare you go?

You can apply metallic eyeshadow over your entire eyelid for a real head turning look. Or you could use a more neutral shade like peach, brown or lilac, but highlight the inner corner of the eye by lining it with a silver or gold eye pencil.

The lash out with black mascara. If you like, you could even attach crystals to your eye lashes, with false lash glue. Or you could use a metallic mascara for gorgeous, magical lashes.
Finally, take a large powder brush and lightly dust shimmer powder over your cheekbones, your forehead, nose and chin.

Makeup Style #2. Dramatic Eye Makeup

Do you want Egyptian makeup or smoky eye makeup? Both feature dramatic eyes. However, strong eyes and strong lips would clash, so keep your look classy by going for nude lips.
For starters, do you want to use false lashes as well?

If you want really dramatic lashes, start off by trimming false lashes to fit your eyes and applying them according to the manufacturer's instructions. Or you could just use 3 coats of mascara instead when you are done.

With a makeup brush, put on the eyeshadow over the entire eyelid. For the Egyptian look, you can go for a medium shade of eye shadow, but use liquid black liner to draw a thick line on the upper lash line. Thicken the line as you move towards and beyond the outer corner of the eye. Line the lower lash line with an eye pencil if you find the liquid liner too tricky.

For smokey eyes, go for a deeper eyeshadow like charcoal, plum, midnight blue, deep green.. you get the picture. Apply the shadow over the entire eye lid. Then line upper and lower lashes with a black eye pencil and smudge the line. Finally, apply mascara.

Pick a nude shade for the lipstick or use a light lip gloss so that your lips do not compete with your eyes.

If you want goth makeup, leave your cheeks pale. If not, then use a blusher to contour your face or for radiance. Here's an article on [http://www.cheapestsale.com/health/cheek.html]how to apply blusher.

Makeup Style #3. Luscious lips.

If your lips are sensuous, or anything remotely like Angelina Jolie's, then focus on your lips. For your eyes, apply a peach or nude brown shadow and a single coat of mascara. Then choose a strong red lipstick, or a deep wine shade for your lips.

Use a lip pencil to line the lips. The use a lip brush to fill in your lips with your chosen lipstick. Use some blusher to add color to your cheeks and you are done.

Let's Create Sultry Smoky Eyes

They say there is nothing sexier than a pair of sultry smoky eyes, smoky eyes done so right that they can cause a man to stop dead in his tracks.
But - do you know how to create such a perfect set of smoky eyes?

What you need to get started:

Eye Primer

Loose powder

Dark Eyeshadow

Medium - grey eyeshadow

Black Mascara

Magic Lash Eyelash Enhancer

Now the idea is to be able have smoky eyes, yet not look so much like you forgot to take your eye makeupoff last night. Even though, that has been known as a turn on for a quite lot of men makes them wonder what you been up. To start creating the look you must have a base for it.

This helps to keep the color in one place. Smooth on a eyeshadow primer, some say foundation is good to use as long as its color doesn't take away from what you aretrying to achieve. Now pat on loose powder setting the base. The real secret to the smoky look is in the color eyeshadow you use.

Tips: If your eyes are blue and you're blond, then go for greensinstead, the darker the better. If your eyes are green then go for blues again the darkest shades of blues you like. If your eyes are brown then you are just plain lucky with your choices of colors. Brown eyed ladies can try any colors you like.

Now purple eyeshadow is a color that everyone can try. Just try it in Plum, Berry and others like those.

Rim your eyes with a black or grey pencil drawing a line along both upper and lower lash line. Starting from inner corner of your eyes going outward starting a fine line going into a heavier line as you draw outwards the outer corner.
If black or grey seems too harsh for the look you're goingfor, then try either dark brown, plum or taupe instead.

Apply a medium - grey eyeshadow all over your lids, stopping at the crease. Apply your dark eyeshadow into the crease, then take a angled brush and apply the dark eyeshadow onto the eyelinerand then smudge it well with a cotton swab keeping as much of the color at the outer corner of your eyes. The angledbrush is great for getting eyeshadow up under your lashes on the bottom which in turn helps keep your eyeliner in place. It's the smudging that has got to be done carefully.

The idea is to blend the eyeshadow and eyeliner together. If you wanted a more "feline" aka cat eyes then using a liquid eyeliner would be best.

Helping to contrast the darkness of your eyeshadow, sweep a pearlized ivory eyeshadow over your brow bones for a wide-eyed look. By applying a little at a time, you are building up the effort gradually till you like what you see.Finishing off the look with one coat of black mascara, one coat of Magic Lash if you want super long, lush lashes to go along with this look, then one more coat of black mascara.

Dark colors trend to make small eyes look even smaller, you can open them up by lining the rims from theinner to the center with a light-colored pencil, rather than dark pencil, pat on pale eyeshadow on the center of each lid. That should cause the small eyes to seem bigger.

For the rest of this ideal look. Finish off by using a tawny blusher or a bronzing powder. Its natural color won't complete with the rest of your makeup. Sweep it over your cheekbone, blending awayto the edges into your hairline.Keeping your lips neutral gives this look its real impact.

Go for a pinkish - beige shade of lip penciland smudge it over your entire mouth for a matte, I justed been kissed yet very understated effect. Now your eyesare ready for whatever you might have planned. This look can be toned down for work but who would want to?

Eye Make Up Ideas For All Occasions

Make-up has been used for centuries to enhance, contour and highlight a woman's facial features. And all this time, it has been a mainstay in a woman's drawer, purse or dressing room, because what the make-up does to unleash a personality or hide it, and make a woman feel the confidence of her radiant beauty is immeasurable. Every woman would love to be beautiful and feel beautiful to a certain extent. Simply put, make-up is essential, uplifting and motivating.

Therefore, one must not run out of great eye make up ideas to liven up the face when needed.
Many women have perfected the features of their faces, their skin tones and moods, that they have found and discovered the hues and shades that work for them. But of course, one cannot use the same make-up combination all her life. Occasions call for different styles and moods of make-up, so as with the time of wearing it, or even merely, the skin tone or personality.

Basically, in choosing the perfect make-up, we all have to address our skin tone's qualities. Some colors will work for exotic skin tones, while some may work only for fair complexions. Also, one must put into regard whether they are wearing make up during the day or evening, as the shades may vary to a great extent. Lastly, one must know which feature of the face should be highlighted. Some may put more drama to the lips, while some may choose to add "oomph" to the eyes.

Soft Daytime Makeup

The key to using daytime makeup is to use a minimal touch. Especially since the sun is out on you during the daytime, bright colors or loud colors may tend to make you look overdone. The great hues that may be used by a variety of skin colors and types are in the peach family or the earth color family. Of course, a subtle shadow like cream or nude will be a good base color. A light touch of liner on the upper lids will highlight the eyes and perk it up. One great trick to make your eyes look big and bright and smiling, is to curl your lashes and use a clear mascara to hold it in place. For the cheeks, one may use peach or plum, to give it a natural glow. Use a color that will blend with your natural skin color. For the lips, a nude or peach/pink lip gloss or color will add that extra smooch to the lips.

Party Makeup

Of course, party make-up is much more daring and lively, something that will make people turn to you as you strut at the entrance of the party. Great colors to wear for parties are the loud ones, such as greens, blues, silvers and hot pinks. These are attention grabbing colors, so you must be able to blend them well with the rest of your makeup, outfit, and your personality. More especially, you need the confidence to carry them well. You may use a black eyeliner to enhance the shape of your eyes, or highlight it the way you want it to. A great flush on the cheeks that complement your desired eyeshadow should be considered. Also remember, that in choosing your lip color, you should consider this: When highlighting the eyes, neutralize the lips; when you want to highlight your lips, choose subtle colors for the eyes.

Evening/Formal Makeup

No matter what you wear or what the evening occasion is, always remember that an elegant makeup will do the trick. And when we say elegant, warm earth colors, or those in the champagne or rose families will create that mood quite well. Black eyeliner must be used to give a dramatic effect to the eyes, especially if you like to use a smokey-eyed effect, where all the focus will be the look in your eyes. Darker hues of blush such as apricot or terracota, to complement your shadow, will add to it. Also, a darker shade of lip colors in the families of reds, champagnes and browns will be a great blend to an elegant evening make-up.
Whatever the occasion is, always remember that make-up is supposed to make you look young and vibrant, not old and stiff. These great eye make up ideas are to be used according to your skin color and mood. Have someone to look at you, and make them add suggestions to your overall look.

Makeup Techniques - Some Easy Tips

Interested in learning about makeup but don't know where to look? Learning some simple makeup techniques, particularly how to apply eye makeup, is something that can boost your self esteem and help you to create exactly the look you desire. Read below for a few easy tips for makeup application.

The 1st place you will want to investigate in order to create larger, adventurous, and more dramatic eyes is to your eyeliner. Eyeliner can be the solution to your small eye blues, but only if you use the proven procedures. First of all, you will want to line the entire top lash line and then pull out that line a little bit at the corners of your eye. If you prefer, you can also line the bottoms of your eyes, but just concentrate color only on the outside third of the eye and extend it just slightly past the edge. Don't be too melodramatic. Just a slight line beyond the outside edge will be just enough. Keep in mind that a soft and smoky look will open your eyes up much more than thin hard lines of liner will. Utilize dark and neutral colors with just a little hint of black for lining, since bright shades are what will make your eyes look even smaller.

The other spot to focus your eye enlargement process is your lashes. Eyelashes are a stunning eye opener. Before you put on mascara, you can curl your lashes 3 times: once at the base, another half way up, and a 3rd time at the tip. This will help produce a feminine, rounded curl of your eyelashes. Then, as you use your mascara, take care to spread out your lashes as you go. Do so by brushing the inner 1/3 of your lashes toward your nose. Pull the middle 1/3 straight out. Then, take the outmost 1/3 of your lashes and brush them toward your temples. By enhancing your eyelashes in this manner, you will be able to draw attention to your eyes and help them to project. The more they stand out, the more prominent they will look.

Most hot tips for makeup application will direct you to your eye shadow. Take your time when doing so, however. Though it is a commonly held notion, dramatic eye shadow does not make your eyes stand out. As a matter of fact, it will do just the opposite. Too much dark eye shadow will cause your eyes to appear smaller by shading them back into your face. If you do have small eyes, you will want to keep eye shadow extremely simple. Use only light-colored shadows first of all. Secondly, never don more than two shades at one time. Remember, simpleness will be your friend here. Brush a light, delicate base color from your lashes to your brow. Next, use a slightly darker color to create just a elusive definition in your eyelid's crease. By keeping your shadow simple and understated, you can enhance your eyes and avoid hiding them on your face.

Next, a way to bring out your eyes is to work on the area around them. For example, dark circles will make your eyes seem smaller than they are. If you have obvious circles around your eyes, they can even make your eyes look hollow. To fix the problem, use a concealer that is just slightly lighter in the dark circle areas. You will be able to enhance your eyes by using these easy makeup techniques, freeing yourself of the unsightly circles.

Also, think about the shape of your eyebrows when trying to enhance your eyes. Your eyes will seem more diminished and closer together if you have brows that are too close together or dark. To help expand your eyes and open them, tweeze your eyebrows further out than you might normally. If possible, it is preferable to get your eyebrows approximately an eye length apart if you can.

Big eyes may be a blessing, but small eyes are not a curse. By simply understanding where to focus your efforts, you will make small eyes pop and look beautiful. Practice your makeup techniques, minding the skin around your eyes and you will learn that opening and elaborating your eyes is effortless and even a little bit fun.

With these secrets for makeup application, you will be able to heighten your natural beauty, applying these same makeup formulas that any professional makeup artist would use. Remember that the eyes are your most significant feature, so use forethought when selecting colors and cosmetics. These makeup tips don't cost a million bucks, but you will feel like a million after you set about applying makeup like a pro!

A huge mistake that many people make when it comes to formal make up is that they try to make each of their facial features a focal point. Choose either your eyes or your lips and then apply makeup to enhance that features. The makeup you use in the other area should be more subtle. Select the area of your face that is where you get the most compliments.

No Foundation?

Another formal eye make up trick is to skip the foundation but to use a concealer for blemishes. How does this affect your eye makeup? First off, those that are young are likely to have beautiful, glowing skin with no need for heavy foundations. For your eye makeup, allowing your natural skin tones to come through will allow your eyes to be more set off from the rest of your face. Less makeup everywhere else helps your eyes to stand out.

For bridal makeup, consider more natural and soft tones. The white of a wedding dress makes your skin darker looking. Less is more here. For proms and a night out on the town, look to more drastic and deep color combinations in your eye makeup. Do this to create an alluring look with your eyes.

Formal eye makeup tips like these can be easy to apply any day or night that you are planning out. You can get amazing eye makeup ideas from celebrities by paging through the web or watching Red Carpet footage. The bottom line is to find an amazing look that allows only your eyes to stand out. Eye makeup techniques like these are easy to learn. Practice makes perfect! For a formal look, enhance your eyes.

9 Tips for Chapped Lips

One of the inevitable aspects of wintertime is the severe lack of moisture in the cold, harsh air, which unfortunately leads to dryness of the skin. Because the body is less able to absorb the limited moisture, many people experience peeling, chapped lips. More than just a simple annoyance, chapped lips can be quite sore and painful, prompting most people to rely on lip creams or balms to ease the irritation. As a massage therapist, you can help your clients (and yourself) by knowing ways to heal this frustrating wintertime problem.

People may experience dry, chapped lips for a variety of reasons, including dehydration, constant exposure to the elements, and even allergic reactions to food or medications. Some people may even have a vitamin deficiency that causes the lips to become chapped. Other times, our very own behavior may be the culprit. One of the worst habits that can cause chapping is constantly licking your lips. To combat chapped lips, many people are prepared by always having a tube of lip balm with them at all times. In addition to applying creams or balms, one of the most important things to remember is to stay hydrated.

There are a number of products on the market to choose from for lip care. Knowing which ingredients are most beneficial to the health of your lips can help make the decision a bit easier. Some ingredients can increase your lips’ ability to retain moisture, while others have healing properties that speeds the relief process. Being equipped with this information and having it readily available to share with clients can be an additional service welcomed by clients. And, if you’re really feeling ambitious, you can even try your hand at making your own balms to sell to clients in your practice.

Makeup Tips - Foundation and Concealer

Beauty is one of our prime pursuits as we go about our daily lives. The society we live in places a lot of emphasis on our looks. How we look greatly determines how the society around us will consider us. We subconsciously draw conclusions about individuals within the first one minute, often before anything has been said. Within this one minute, you will have decided whether the person is nice, has money, his social status, whether you may like him; among numerous other things. We can therefore not afford to neglect our looks. An important tool to enhancing our beauty is makeup. Makeup will enhance our strengths and will also cover those embarrassing blemishes we don't want seen in public. However, incorrectly applied make up can lead to embarrassment. It is therefore wise to learn the correct way of applying makeup. The following beauty tips explain the process of applying the foundation and concealer.

Beauty tip number one
is that when you decide to apply makeup, you must first carry out a thorough analysis of your skin to determine whether you have oily skin, dry skin or normal skin. Examination of the skin will also determine the skin tone, eye color and other parameters relevant in the choice of cosmetics. A makeup artist at your cosmetic store should be able to assist you in assessing your skin so that you may select suitable products for your skin, from among the many cosmetics available. Armed with the right products, you will now be ready to advance to the next step, which is the actual application of makeup.
Beauty tip number two is that before you apply any makeup, you must first wash your face and your hands. This gets rid of dirt and bacteria which may have accumulated on the skin. You can then apply a thin layer of moisturizer and allow it to soak into the skin for a while. The moisturizer will help make your face smoother. Afterwards, rinse in warm water and pat the face dry with a towel. Make sure your towel is always clean. A dirty towel is likely to spread bacteria on your skin leading to skin problems like pimples, especially if you have an oily skin. If you wish, you may apply a primer; this improves the texture of the skin making the foundation last longer. They are available in most cosmetic shops.

The next stage is to apply the foundation. You must select a foundation which matches your skin color. When you blend the foundation, it should melt into the natural skin color without leaving any noticeable trace. Most foundations have orange or pink based colors. However, a yellow based foundation has been proved to be most appropriate for all skin colors. Test the foundation on the jaw line or on the fore head to ensure that it matches the skin. The foundation should then be applied on the face using a brush with light downward strokes. The finger tips or a sponge are equally efficient, especially when you want some concentrated attention on a particular spot.

The foundation should be applied to cover the whole face, from the hairline down into the neck. If the foundation is not blended into the skin of the neck, you may end up looking as if you are wearing a mask. Open the mouth when applying the foundation to expose the jaw line, so that you can properly blend the foundation and make it invisible.

The foundation can also be applied when wet. In this case, mix some foundation with water or moisturizer and apply using a brush. A sponge or puff may also be used with light downward strokes. The foundation will dry into a fine even powder. Apply the foundation around the eye area but do not apply any over the upper eyelids. Set the foundation with loose reflecting powder using a large powder brush immediately after the application.

You may probably wish to apply both a foundation and a concealer. A concealer is also known as a color corrector. It is similar to a foundation but it is much thicker and is used to cover pimples, dark circles around the eyes, spots and other prominent embarrassing blemishes on the face. The purpose of the concealer is to make the skin color more even. It serves a similar purpose as the foundation. The point to note is that a concealer has more color or pigmentation and is used to cover particular prominent areas or blemishes, while a foundation may be used to cover a wider area of skin.

Concealers come in different shades. Some have shades which match the color of the skin while others have sharply contrasting colors meant to camouflage particular blemishes. A light colored or white concealer may be used to cover dark spots, while dark colored concealer may be used on a lighter skin patch. Selecting the right concealer can be quite a dilemma. Which shade is the best to go for? For most women (and men), yellow based concealers, like yellow based foundations, are the most suitable. You must however decide what it is that you want to use the concealer for. Because of the sheer difficulty of ascertaining the right shade, you need to seek the assistance of the make up artist at the cosmetic shop. You must try out the concealer to ensure it is just right before you purchase it.

Concealers are packaged in different forms. They may be liquid, semi solid, pencil or felt tip. Which ever the choice you make, the concealer should be applied carefully in thin layers, which can then be built upon until the blemish is fully concealed. When using both a concealer and a foundation; which should come first? This question is quite tricky. When you apply the foundation first, you will realize you may not need much concealer. On the other hand, if you apply your concealer first, you may not need as much foundation. Also since some concealers contrast sharply with the skin color, they must be applied before the foundation. All in all, it is up to you to decide what works best for you.

When applying the concealer, apply small amounts on the blemish and then using the pad of your middle finger, tap it in or press it in using a rolling motion. Never rub it in. Make sure the concealer has blended in properly and is not obvious. After this, dust fine, loose powder using a fluffy brush to set it in.

A concealer and foundation are very important items on your dressing table. They play a very important role in enhancing beauty. They strengthen appeal and also disguise those blemishes which otherwise ruin the flawlessness of your complexion. Remember that beauty is mostly perceived with the eyes. The skin is the first part of your body that anyone looking at you sees. You must therefore ensure that you pay attention to it. The foundation and the concealer are the foundation to your beauty. Learn to use them.

Best Concealer - 3 Tips for Properly Applying Makeup to Conceal Acne Damaged Skin

Makeup serves one purpose- to create an illusion. Makeup can create the illusion of having flawless skin, a smaller nose, larger eyes and smoother lips. But, when makeup is used haphazardly as a beauty utensil, it can magnify wrinkles, deepen the look of scars and make your pores look like moon craters. In three simple steps, you can use the true power of makeup to properly conceal acne damaged skin.

Step 1: Prep your skin with moisture

When working with makeup, your skin is your canvas. Before applying makeup, you want your canvas clean and moisturized. One trick to make applying makeup smoother is to use a combination rosewater and vitamin E oil moisture mist. To make it, fill a 2-ounce spray bottle with rosewater and then drop five to ten drops of vitamin E oil into a the bottle. Place the spray nozzle on the bottle, shake up the contents for 30 seconds so that the oils get evenly distributed, and then spray on the mist. You can get all of these items for less than $10 at your local drug store.

Step 2: Get the right liquid foundation

The makeup foundation is called "foundation" for one critical reason. If you get your foundation wrong, no matter what your do to your skin, your makeup will still look wrong. Here's what I mean. You need to match your foundation to not only your skin tone, but also your skin texture and your need for skin damage concealment.

For example, you have your sheer foundations, which are ideal for persons possessing virtually flawless skin. Then you have semi-matte foundations for persons who may just want to tone down a few age marks or freckles that dispersed over their face.

Then your have full-coverage, matte foundations. Opt for this type of foundation if you are guilty of "caking on" your make up to hide blemishes. Using a full coverage matte foundation lets you lay on one thin coat of makeup while still deeming down unwanted skin imperfections.

Step3 : Take the makeup off completely

Once you have enjoyed a full day of successful blemish hiding, it's now time to completely remove the makeup. The easy way to know your skin is thoroughly cleansed and the makeup is truly gone, is that you should actually feel your skin breathing again. You can remove makeup, without over stripping your skin, using a cotton square and witch hazel. Saturate the square with witch hazel and smooth it over your face. Once you are done, the cotton square should no longer collect makeup. This cleansing step will also help stave off further skin blemishes.

How to Apply Eye Mascara

Applying Mascara is the final step in eye makeup. Mascara is applied on the eye lashes to beautify them. Different formulas and application of mascara can enhance your lashes in different ways. Mascara can often be very scary and hard to apply. Different colors of mascara such as brown, navy and green can make you look funky instantly. Before applying mascara, use an eyelash comb or damp toothbrush to comb your lashes. Always use a clean and fresh mascara wand on damp lashes. Scary because there is always a chance you could poke your eye, if you have a steady hand and you are trying not to get to close to the root of the lashes this should be no problem.

A mascara without added fibres is normally sufficient, if applied correctly to make eye lashes look long and lustrous. There are three different forms of mascara - water-based, water-proof and the mixed variety. It is important that mascara is used on an individual only to avoid transferring eye infections and if it causes even the slightest irritation in the eye, it must be immediately discarded. While removing the mascara from eyes always avoid the colour from going onto the delicate area below the bottom lashes and close your eyes.

Tips for applying eye mascara

1. Apply mascara after eye shadow and eyeliner.

2. If your mascara is new and the deposit on the corners is plentiful, tissue off the wand before applying to prevent smudging

3. Never curl your eyelashes after applying mascara because they can stick to the pad on curler.

4. Try not to blink your eyes for until it dries. To remove the excess mascara blot the lashes with a tissue.

5. Finally brush with a clean dry brush, to separate the lashes.

6. Always remove mascara before going to bed. This will keep lashes healthier.

Coloured Mascara

If you are bold enough, try putting on blue or brown mascara on your lashes after applying a coat of black mascara, for a stunning look.

Tip to Remove Mascara

Mascara must be removed very carefully to avoid damaging the delicate skin around the eyes. Roll a cotton bud dipped in cosmetic cleaner over the lashes, taking mascara down on the tissues. Repeat this until all mascara removes.

Apply Eyeliner Like A Professional

Many people think they already know how to apply eyeliner, and by all rights, they do a good job. In actuality, there is a big difference between the way you might apply eyeliner and the way a professional make-up artist does. Use these easy-to-follow steps and you can apply eyeliner like a professional make-up artist:

1. Select your eyeliner

An eyeliner must be applied near the base of your eyelashes. As there are varying products in the market such as cake eyeliner, liquid liner and pencil eyeliner, it is important to try each type so that you will know which type will best accentuate your own natural beauty. Also, to whatever type you prefer, practice the application so you can achieve a very fine line. Remember that it is not a pretty sight when you apply eyeliner in a very thick line. It will look harsh, at the same time loud, making your eyes as well as giving it a tired and heavy impression. Always bear in mind that a thin line is recommended - should you have any trouble applying it, a brush is helpful to smooth out the line and to blend it well.

Liquid eye liner.

Liquid eyeliners are recommended to be used and should only be used above the top of the eye lashes, whereas an eye shadow or an eye lining pencil is suggested to be used under the eyes lower lashes. This kind comes usually in a bottle with an application brush, almost similar to an ink. This requires great precision during application, but can be perfected through constant practice. A note to remember is to always let the liquid dry before you open your eyes after application - if not, the liquid may smear the top of your eyes and give you a raccoon look.

Eye liner pencil

The easiest to use, works just like colored pencil. As the tip of this liner is dry, it has a tendency of pulling your eyelids fragile tissues; stretching the eyelids when lining it could help a lot in achieving a smooth application. A note to remember, you should always sharpen the pencil before every application to eliminate any bacteria that has accumulated at the tip.

Permanent eyeliner

This is can be created through cosmetic surgery. This procedure is known as micro pigmentation, a technique that adds a defined line to the lid which with a handheld device used to puncture the skin several times a minute with a very thin needle that pushes color pigments to the position that is desired.

2. Apply the eyeliner

- Begin at the inner corner of your eye. Always be certain to use a light hand when applying your eyeliner, as the area around the eyes is very sensitive and delicate.

- Put on your eyeliner only after you have already applied an eye shadow. Doing it before an eye shadow application would only cover the eyeliner.

- To achieve a dramatic and intense look, a kohl pencil with a color can be applied above as well as below the lashes, and then followed with black or very dark gray liquid eyeliner at the top. This will give the impression of dark eye lashes and will stay on for the whole day. A dark colored eye-liner will highlight the eyes form and outline as well as give them a deep look.

- While holding your head back facing the mirror, look down so that your eyelids will become tight making it easier in applying and controlling the liner. When necessary, smudge.

- The eyes will seem larger when you make a line with a pencil under your lower lashes - instead try a dark eye shadow applied with the help of a tiny makeup brush, to give an illusion of darker and fuller eye lashes. Below such line, you need to apply also a thin line with a lighter shade of eye shadow, preferably white, yellow or beige to brighten up your eye area.

- Pencil liners may be used on both above the top lashes as well as under the lower lashes. Liquid eye liners however, must only be applied on the top lid. Cake eyeliners are applied with water and may be put on to both the top and so too the bottom of the lid.

- If you have beautiful green eyes, try putting on a violet smoky pencil that will enhance your eyes, since basing from the color wheel, violet and green are opposite, so they will compliment each other.

- Refer to nature when you are in a process of deciding on a color. Green, beige and burnt orange are autumn colors.

- Others prefer using an eye liner not only for the eyes, but the lips as well. Should you decide on this, an eye lining pencil will be most suitable for the application. Make sure though, that you choose a certain shade of somewhat reddish brown or orangey-brown or a brownish plum, to compliment and flatter your lipstick.

Apply eyeshadow to add simple definition or to make a strong impact, depending on your choice of colour. There are two basic ways to apply eye shadow in shape shading, "rounded" and "winged. Use a small, more pointed eyeshadow brush to run the slightly darker shade of the main color in a thin line along the socket line, working from the inside corner outward. Eye shadows come in in several textures, powders (compacts), pencils, and creams. Powder can be used either dry or wet and it's really easy to control. Pencils are fairly easy to use and Creams tend to be hard to control. A dark tone makes an area recede, while a light or bright shade will bring an area forward. This is why eyeshadow is often sold in containers with two color shades: a dark and light.

Three coordinating eye shadow shades that define, highlight and accentuate any eye color. Always apply a lighter shade under the brow bone to highlight the eyes and darker shades on the lid and the crease of the eye. Using a large, flat eyeshadow brush, apply a light shadow color over your entire eyelid from lash line to brow. Choose a fine brush for the eyeshadow application. the base colour to the entire lid from the inside to the outside corner and from the base of the lashes to the eyelid crease. Eyeshadow is applied to draw attention to the eye which accounts for many shades of purple, blue, green, yellow and orange color that comes in and out of fashion. Choose an eyeshadow color that matches your dress, eye color and face makeup.

Eyeshadow Application Tips

1. Before using eye-shadow, use a little powder on the eyelid as a base.

2. Eye-shadow is available in many shades. On black eyes, chocolate, green or mauve shades are preferred.

3. Eyeshadow is commonly found in powder form but it is also available in cream with a sponge-tip wand and in crayons.

4. Eyeshadow should be used for night make-up.

5. Eye shadows with cream-coloured, soft and silky texture are posed in two blows of brushes and are based on the eyelid naturally.

6. Apply the darkest shade to the outer corners of the eyes from lash line to the crease.

7. Use the light shade to cover the entire eyelid that is from the lash line to the brow.

8. Apply the medium shade on the lower lid.

9. Never share the eye makeup tools because by doing so you may unknowingly transfer eye infections to one another such as the conjunctivitis.

10. Cheer up now, as there is a way to make it stick for little longer.
