Winter 2008 Makeup Tips

Who doesn't look forward to the new styles that pop up every fall? As we tuck away our light, bright summer shades we turn our eyes towards colors resplendent of the leaves falling around us. This winter there are several distinct styles inspired by the runway, and we'll walk through the best winter 2008 makeup tips.

Brows: This season lush, natural brows are in. No more over-plucked, super-skinny brows. The first thing to do is let your brows grow in if they are that thin. Then begin reshaping them. Oh, yes. Natural does not equal bushy, so it's still important to shape them according to your natural arch. If you're not comfortable doing it, try a spa or salon that specializes in waxing. It's worth the money not to have to do it yourself.

Are your brows naturally thin or not growing back in quickly enough (or at all)? No problem. Invest in an eyebrow powder or pencil. The trick to application is to make the makeup look like a natural part of your eyebrow. A firm eyebrow brush is usually the ticket. After applying your eyebrow color brush from the inside of your eyebrow out until the distinct makeup appearance fades.

Eye Shadow: Winter 2008 makeup tips bring back the smoky eye. The twist is using bright, bold and eye-catching shades in addition to your normal smoky eye. Grey, silver, blue and teal (reminiscent of the 70's) are all waiting for you to pick them up. These are very bold looks, and you might be a little wary of going full-throttle. Not a problem.

Why not stick to this season's other gorgeous colors? Bronze, burgundy, coral, deep green and deep purple are fabulous bold colors that aren't overpowering. Matte shades, a hint of sparkle or glitter encrusted are all acceptable, so go wild! Try something subtle like gray with a splash of teal or bronze with burgundy.

Eye Liner: Winter 2008 makeup tips also include eyeliner straight off the catwalk. Try liquid eyeliner for a graphic design or to get that really precise shape. There are new shapes to try this season; blunt edges and square in addition to the traditional "cat eye" swoop and taper tail. If liquid eyeliner isn't your thing, don't hesitate to use a powder or pencil liner for a softer line and less edginess. Either way, to perfect this season's styles invest in eye liner.

Lips: Let's take advantage of this year's trend and move away from shiny lipgloss and focus on stains. Vibrant and deep colors in a sheer stain are a gorgeous way to bring your lips to the center of attention. Red, burgundy, cherry and garnet stains will add a youthful perkiness to your pucker without leaving your lips looking garish. Pick up your favorite lipstick and apply it in the middle of your lips. Then use a lip brush and brush it out to the corners and the lip line. Ta dah!

Conversely, lips can also go nude and nearly colorless this season. If you go bold lips do neutral eyes. If you do bold eyes keep your lips nude. One or the other, but not both.
Finally, top your lashes with a dark mascara to open your eyes regardless of what eye shadow you're wearing and you're set.

Eye Liner Colors - Defining Eyes With Beauty & Style

Eye liners make your eyes stand out by accentuating them. You can define the shape of your eyes with boldness or soft focus appeal. How you apply eyeliner and with what colors set the look that you will achieve. Your individual taste will determine the amount of liner you wear.

You can define the shape of your eyes with boldness or highlights depending on the shade or color selected. Highlighting with liners can downplay other less appealing facial features. Don't attempt to change the shape of your eyes but use the liner to emphasize what you have.

For dramatic & glamorous eyes, use rich, dark and vivid colors. Draw even lines as close to the lashes as possible while remembering that darker colors leave no room for lining mistakes. Always brace your wrist and tilt your head slightly before applying the liner as this will create a good angle for application while allowing you to see what your doing. On the top lid, draw from corner to corner with a even stroke for a precise line. Use several smaller strokes just under the bottom lash. This will give a soft natural line with effortless application.

When lining your eyes, don't allow the top and bottom lines to meet. This will tend to make your eyes look smaller then they are. Try blending the top and bottom corners together with a shadow that is several shades lighter than the liner.

The darker the color, the more dramatic your look will become. If you have applied to much and your look seems to harsh, take a small eye shadow brush with a sponge tip and gently smudge the top & bottom lines. It will create softness to your eyes. You might try to practice on your arm or hand prior to applying to your eyes.

Mineral Liners are gentler on your skin then pencil liners. Pencil liners tend to pull the delicate skin around your eye. Great definition is accomplished by mixing mineral liners with water and applying them wet. Place one or two drops of water in the lid of the minerals and gently swirl you brush mixing them. Then glide the brush in one smooth continuous line. This will give precise definition. Avoid using short strokes with wet liners. It tends to look messy and uneven.

Lining the inside of your lids are not recommended as it can cause a host of problems including eye infections. Avoid sharing your liners with others due to bacteria spreading from one person to another. Always wash your liner brush when applying new colors. Even the smallest amount of color left on the brush can alter the color your testing.

Experiment with a wide variety of vivid shades to make your sultry eyes stand out. Blue, soft grays or soft black colors beautifully accent light eyes, while brown and plum colors intensify brown & green eyes. Whether you choose a soft focus finish or a more dramatic bold look, start slowly and work with the natural shape of your eyes building the color and depth as you go. Use eye shadow colors and liners that compliments the color of your eyes so that your eyes & face are brought together for stunning beauty.

Winter Makeup Tips - Sexy Shimmer

Shimmer makeup has been around for ages. While the version decades ago was the sort a teenager experimenting with makeup might use. I had a shimmer eyeshadow palette in my teenage days. The eyeshadow just didn't last. I had to apply a lot to see the color and even then, it faded away hours after application. The other kind looked really tacky.

Nowadays, shimmer makeup is a lot more friendly. It lasts longer too.

This season's metallic makeup is for both day and night. The effect of today's makeup is no longer like the cheap glitter you might use for art and craft. Today's metallic makeup is subtle, albeit glamorous. It stays on longer then the powdery fairy dust of the past.

What really caught my attention this year was that ethereal look many models wore in the Fall 2007 to Winter 2008 fashion show. They looked like extras from some sci-fi movie, what with the silver sheen on their faces that made look out of this world. That look is perfect for parties.
Looking at the photos of the models for Chanel, and for a number of other haute couture shows, I wondered how they achieved that effect.

The models seemed to be lit with some silvery light. As if fairy dust had been dusted on their faces. It looked wonderful with the black on black outfits paraded on the runway.

In a sense, fairy dust was applied on the models in the form of shimmer powder. In short, that ethereal look is achieved with the addition of shimmer powder dusted lightly over the entire face. You can get a softer, radiant effect by dusting shimmer powder where light hits your face.

The tops of the cheeks, forehead, tip of the chin and tip of the nose, places where sunlight normally hits, could use a touch of shimmer powder for that ethereal radiance.

For the eyes try a gentle shimmer for day. Metallic eye shadows in lighter shades work well if worn with a light hand. Slick on some mascara and your eyes are done.

For night, slick on a shimmery eye liner in a deep or bright color. Use a strong eyeliner and line the upper lash line, thickening the line and winging out at the outer edge of each eye for a dramatic finish.

The Egyptian eye is in, so use a thick line over upper lashline of the outer half of each eye for that cat eye effect.

Alternatively, you could go for a smoky eye look with vibrant eye shadow with a metallic finish. Pick a metallic eye shadow in a rich green, or a vibrant color. Line your eyes with a matching shimmer pencil and smudge the line. Then go over the line with your metallic eyeshadow.

For lips, try a shimmery lip gloss over your regular lipstick. If you focus on your eyes, with a deeper or stronger shadow, go for medium or pale shades for your lips. If you want to focus on a brilliant pout, them go easy on the eyes.

Can everyone wear shimmer?

Younger women in their twenties and early thirties will look amazing in shimmer makeup. If you are young, you can go all out with your makeup colors. Use the most vibrant metallics you can find as you can get away with them. In fact, you would probably look amazing.

Older women have to be careful. Shimmer highlights your features... and wrinkles. So if you have crows feet, avoid metallic eye makeup. If you have lines on your face, avoid shimmer powder where the lines are.

A softer version, in peachy colors would make most women look radiant and is absolutely wearable. Just make sure the shadow doesn't gather in your skin's creases.

You can get away with a touch of shimmer powder at the center of your lower lip for a fuller pout, regardless your age.

Beauty Tips to Look Younger

There is no question that being a youngster is hard. The stress of making important choices about the future, romantic entanglements, a changing body, a first job, driving lessons, & so many other limitless items only serve to craft the teenage years more complex. One thing that doesn't have to add not needed pressure to an already frantic life is make up application. The following make up tips for youngsters cover a multitude of problems. Superior yet, these Make up tips will assist in avoiding general mistakes made by immature women learning to use Make up for the first time.

Make up Tip #1: Covering Basic Problems

• Concealed

• Powder

• Foundation

Acne is the plague of youth, but with the above items, most pimples can be covered well if not completely. The key is to choose both concealed & foundation that matches your skin tone. It is ideal to have a professional consultation performed to determine the perfect shade for your skin. If money is a concern, you can ask for samples from the area store performing the conference & use those samples to locate similar shades in less costly, drugstore brand make up.

Make up Tip #2: Read Your Lips

• Lip liner

• Lip gloss

Painting lips should be left sweet & simple. Select a lighter shade of lip liner & line all about the lips. Be careful not to line on the outside of the lips - simply stick to what nature gave you. Fill in the lips with the liner & then wrap with a pale gloss. Don't go overboard with lips color lest you be left with Kool-Aid lips for the remaining day.

Make up Tip #3: Adding Color

• Shimmer

• Blush

• Bronzer

Using just one of the above items will enhance a youngster's face delicately yet considerably. Blush, when used along the cheek bone, can create definition where there is none. When used on the apples of the cheeks (that is the area between the cheekbone, eyes, & nose), it can add plumpness to faces that may be drawn.

Shimmer can be applied to the T-Zone with excellent results, & bronzer can be used all over to create a natural looking glow. It is important that, whichever of the three items that are chosen, they are used sparingly so as to not look excessively done, & to let your normal beauty excel through.

3 Makeup Styles For Parties

Going for a Christmas party, a new year party or a birthday party? How are you going to do your makeup?

A look at the models on the catwalks of some of the more flamboyant fashion shows reminds one of a cross between Tinkerbell and Xena, the warrior princess. You know, Amazonian height but with fairy makeup.

Now that is a look which is perfect for parties. All you need is shimmer makeup.
A point to note. Anyone above forty should avoid all out shimmer as while the shine highlights facial features, it also draws attention to existing fine lines and wrinkles. If you are young and your face is line-free, fantasy makeup is the way to go.

Makeup Style #1. Fantasy Makeup.

For that ethereal look, get a shimmery eye shadow or a shimmer powder in silver, gold, bronze, or any flattering color that captures your fancy. You would also need a brilliant lip gloss to go over your lipstick.

Wear a lipstick that you like, which flatters you. Then go over it with the shimmery gloss. Add some shimmer powder or gold or silver flecks to the center of your lip to emphasize your pout.
For the eyes, how far dare you go?

You can apply metallic eyeshadow over your entire eyelid for a real head turning look. Or you could use a more neutral shade like peach, brown or lilac, but highlight the inner corner of the eye by lining it with a silver or gold eye pencil.

The lash out with black mascara. If you like, you could even attach crystals to your eye lashes, with false lash glue. Or you could use a metallic mascara for gorgeous, magical lashes.
Finally, take a large powder brush and lightly dust shimmer powder over your cheekbones, your forehead, nose and chin.

Makeup Style #2. Dramatic Eye Makeup

Do you want Egyptian makeup or smoky eye makeup? Both feature dramatic eyes. However, strong eyes and strong lips would clash, so keep your look classy by going for nude lips.
For starters, do you want to use false lashes as well?

If you want really dramatic lashes, start off by trimming false lashes to fit your eyes and applying them according to the manufacturer's instructions. Or you could just use 3 coats of mascara instead when you are done.

With a makeup brush, put on the eyeshadow over the entire eyelid. For the Egyptian look, you can go for a medium shade of eye shadow, but use liquid black liner to draw a thick line on the upper lash line. Thicken the line as you move towards and beyond the outer corner of the eye. Line the lower lash line with an eye pencil if you find the liquid liner too tricky.

For smokey eyes, go for a deeper eyeshadow like charcoal, plum, midnight blue, deep green.. you get the picture. Apply the shadow over the entire eye lid. Then line upper and lower lashes with a black eye pencil and smudge the line. Finally, apply mascara.

Pick a nude shade for the lipstick or use a light lip gloss so that your lips do not compete with your eyes.

If you want goth makeup, leave your cheeks pale. If not, then use a blusher to contour your face or for radiance. Here's an article on [http://www.cheapestsale.com/health/cheek.html]how to apply blusher.

Makeup Style #3. Luscious lips.

If your lips are sensuous, or anything remotely like Angelina Jolie's, then focus on your lips. For your eyes, apply a peach or nude brown shadow and a single coat of mascara. Then choose a strong red lipstick, or a deep wine shade for your lips.

Use a lip pencil to line the lips. The use a lip brush to fill in your lips with your chosen lipstick. Use some blusher to add color to your cheeks and you are done.

Let's Create Sultry Smoky Eyes

They say there is nothing sexier than a pair of sultry smoky eyes, smoky eyes done so right that they can cause a man to stop dead in his tracks.
But - do you know how to create such a perfect set of smoky eyes?

What you need to get started:

Eye Primer

Loose powder

Dark Eyeshadow

Medium - grey eyeshadow

Black Mascara

Magic Lash Eyelash Enhancer

Now the idea is to be able have smoky eyes, yet not look so much like you forgot to take your eye makeupoff last night. Even though, that has been known as a turn on for a quite lot of men makes them wonder what you been up. To start creating the look you must have a base for it.

This helps to keep the color in one place. Smooth on a eyeshadow primer, some say foundation is good to use as long as its color doesn't take away from what you aretrying to achieve. Now pat on loose powder setting the base. The real secret to the smoky look is in the color eyeshadow you use.

Tips: If your eyes are blue and you're blond, then go for greensinstead, the darker the better. If your eyes are green then go for blues again the darkest shades of blues you like. If your eyes are brown then you are just plain lucky with your choices of colors. Brown eyed ladies can try any colors you like.

Now purple eyeshadow is a color that everyone can try. Just try it in Plum, Berry and others like those.

Rim your eyes with a black or grey pencil drawing a line along both upper and lower lash line. Starting from inner corner of your eyes going outward starting a fine line going into a heavier line as you draw outwards the outer corner.
If black or grey seems too harsh for the look you're goingfor, then try either dark brown, plum or taupe instead.

Apply a medium - grey eyeshadow all over your lids, stopping at the crease. Apply your dark eyeshadow into the crease, then take a angled brush and apply the dark eyeshadow onto the eyelinerand then smudge it well with a cotton swab keeping as much of the color at the outer corner of your eyes. The angledbrush is great for getting eyeshadow up under your lashes on the bottom which in turn helps keep your eyeliner in place. It's the smudging that has got to be done carefully.

The idea is to blend the eyeshadow and eyeliner together. If you wanted a more "feline" aka cat eyes then using a liquid eyeliner would be best.

Helping to contrast the darkness of your eyeshadow, sweep a pearlized ivory eyeshadow over your brow bones for a wide-eyed look. By applying a little at a time, you are building up the effort gradually till you like what you see.Finishing off the look with one coat of black mascara, one coat of Magic Lash if you want super long, lush lashes to go along with this look, then one more coat of black mascara.

Dark colors trend to make small eyes look even smaller, you can open them up by lining the rims from theinner to the center with a light-colored pencil, rather than dark pencil, pat on pale eyeshadow on the center of each lid. That should cause the small eyes to seem bigger.

For the rest of this ideal look. Finish off by using a tawny blusher or a bronzing powder. Its natural color won't complete with the rest of your makeup. Sweep it over your cheekbone, blending awayto the edges into your hairline.Keeping your lips neutral gives this look its real impact.

Go for a pinkish - beige shade of lip penciland smudge it over your entire mouth for a matte, I justed been kissed yet very understated effect. Now your eyesare ready for whatever you might have planned. This look can be toned down for work but who would want to?

Eye Make Up Ideas For All Occasions

Make-up has been used for centuries to enhance, contour and highlight a woman's facial features. And all this time, it has been a mainstay in a woman's drawer, purse or dressing room, because what the make-up does to unleash a personality or hide it, and make a woman feel the confidence of her radiant beauty is immeasurable. Every woman would love to be beautiful and feel beautiful to a certain extent. Simply put, make-up is essential, uplifting and motivating.

Therefore, one must not run out of great eye make up ideas to liven up the face when needed.
Many women have perfected the features of their faces, their skin tones and moods, that they have found and discovered the hues and shades that work for them. But of course, one cannot use the same make-up combination all her life. Occasions call for different styles and moods of make-up, so as with the time of wearing it, or even merely, the skin tone or personality.

Basically, in choosing the perfect make-up, we all have to address our skin tone's qualities. Some colors will work for exotic skin tones, while some may work only for fair complexions. Also, one must put into regard whether they are wearing make up during the day or evening, as the shades may vary to a great extent. Lastly, one must know which feature of the face should be highlighted. Some may put more drama to the lips, while some may choose to add "oomph" to the eyes.

Soft Daytime Makeup

The key to using daytime makeup is to use a minimal touch. Especially since the sun is out on you during the daytime, bright colors or loud colors may tend to make you look overdone. The great hues that may be used by a variety of skin colors and types are in the peach family or the earth color family. Of course, a subtle shadow like cream or nude will be a good base color. A light touch of liner on the upper lids will highlight the eyes and perk it up. One great trick to make your eyes look big and bright and smiling, is to curl your lashes and use a clear mascara to hold it in place. For the cheeks, one may use peach or plum, to give it a natural glow. Use a color that will blend with your natural skin color. For the lips, a nude or peach/pink lip gloss or color will add that extra smooch to the lips.

Party Makeup

Of course, party make-up is much more daring and lively, something that will make people turn to you as you strut at the entrance of the party. Great colors to wear for parties are the loud ones, such as greens, blues, silvers and hot pinks. These are attention grabbing colors, so you must be able to blend them well with the rest of your makeup, outfit, and your personality. More especially, you need the confidence to carry them well. You may use a black eyeliner to enhance the shape of your eyes, or highlight it the way you want it to. A great flush on the cheeks that complement your desired eyeshadow should be considered. Also remember, that in choosing your lip color, you should consider this: When highlighting the eyes, neutralize the lips; when you want to highlight your lips, choose subtle colors for the eyes.

Evening/Formal Makeup

No matter what you wear or what the evening occasion is, always remember that an elegant makeup will do the trick. And when we say elegant, warm earth colors, or those in the champagne or rose families will create that mood quite well. Black eyeliner must be used to give a dramatic effect to the eyes, especially if you like to use a smokey-eyed effect, where all the focus will be the look in your eyes. Darker hues of blush such as apricot or terracota, to complement your shadow, will add to it. Also, a darker shade of lip colors in the families of reds, champagnes and browns will be a great blend to an elegant evening make-up.
Whatever the occasion is, always remember that make-up is supposed to make you look young and vibrant, not old and stiff. These great eye make up ideas are to be used according to your skin color and mood. Have someone to look at you, and make them add suggestions to your overall look.

Halloween Makeup Tips

Scars: One of the easiest and safest ways to make scars is to use colored tissue paper and corn syrup, yep you read it right corn syrup. Choose a color of tissue paper that matches the makeup color as closely as possible. The corn syrup will be sticky this will allow it to stick to your skin, allow it to dry completely then apply makeup. If you are looking for more realistic scars. Use a combination of toilet tissue and liquid latex, layer them at least 2 layers for strength. Then work to the desired shape you want your scar to be, and apply makeup.

Warts: (warning keep away from eyes) use black, or white pepper corns. Place on the nose using corn syrup, or eyelash glue. You can even use hairs from paint brush to create hairy warts for that extra gross look. Lightly paint around the area to blend with rest of makeup or apply face powder to soften the look.

Scabs: Can be one of the easiest, but most effective parts of your costume. You will need a few things before you get started. Some toilet tissue (plys separated), liquid latex and your choice of paint and makeup. Clean the area that you want to apply, and make sure there is no hair present (it will stick to hair) apply a small thin coat of Liquid Latex. Then apply 1 ply of the toilet tissue, and another thin layer of latex. Now pull up and cut the latex as needed, this will create the effect of skin pulled away.

Apply darker makeup to the center and alternate with red's and blue's around the outside of the cap. You can even apply a little fake blood to increase the effect.
Protect you makeup by putting some plain talc powder or baby powder in an old sock, and pat on to the make up. This will help cure the makeup and help prevent it from running or blending together, making your work last all through the night.

Celebrity Beauty Secrets Revealed

Sure, it's their job to look good and they have plenty of help achieving their beauty goals but that doesn't mean the rest of us can't look as good as our favorite celebrities.

One tip celebrities learn early on is that beauty is achieved from the inside out and prevention is key. Going under the knife these days draws as much scrutiny as a bad beach photo showing dimpled thighs and belly fat. Celebrities are simply supposed to look fabulous but without showing the obvious signs of how they achieved the results. But we all know that nothing happens by magic.

We've asked celebrity makeup artists, skincare specialists, nutritionists, doctors and other professionals that work with today's hottest celebrities to share some of the secrets to treating common skin complaints and achieving younger looking, radiant skin at any age.

Protect Skin from the Environment

Stars like Kate Hudson know that protecting their skin from harsh UV rays and environmental irritants helps to preserve the skin's precious collagen reserves. Kate is a fan of Juice Beauty Green Apple Antioxidant Serum.

Actress Cate Blanchett turns to N.V. Perricone Olive Oil Polyphenols Nutrient Face Fortifier (Whew! What a name!) to keep her skin protected with antioxidant packed polyphenols, which also reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Super Hydration

It's all about the dewy complexion in Hollywood. So if you're skin is as dry as sandpaper, you'd better get to hydrating (dry skin is more prone to fine lines, making you look older). Debra Messing always seems to pull off the quenched look. Try a dollop of Kate Somerville Quench Hydrating Serum to lock in moisture (plus the Vitamin A fights the signs of aging).

Ivanka Trump gets her Springtime glow from SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Masque. Sure, she's already young but infusing her skin with youth-boosting hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5 can keep her looking as young as she feels. Model-turned-actress Molly Sims moisturizes with Dr. Brandt contour effect moisturizing cream, which plumps up the skin by drenching it with moisture-and moisture is our friend.

Dark Circles

Katherine Heigl relies on Hylexin to stop undereye circles and puffiness in their tracks. The ingredients in Hylexin reinforce capillaries that deposit blood in the undereye area creating those persistent dark circles. So say goodbye to raccoon eyes and hello sexy!

Ashunta Sheriff, exclusive makeup artist to Alicia Keys, offers this advice for making tired eyes look brighter and more rested, "Concealer will definitely take away the appearance of dark circles. Also, even though this skincare line is targeted for men, I've used Morning After Rescue Remedy Gel by Nickel. With caffeine, cucumber and other vital ingredients for under eye skin, it perks eyes up quickly and makes them look refreshed."

Adult Acne

Yes, even supermodels get pimples. Earlier this year supermodel Gisele Bundchen was asked what beauty tricks she's picked up over the years and responded by saying, "I had a really horrible pimple on my nose, and a makeup artist gave me Nelsons Acne Gel. I kept putting it on, and my pimple went away. I was like, this is great. It doesn't burn your skin."

Statistics suggest that roughly 85% of the American population have a problem with acne. The Nelsons homeopathic acne gel actually works and contains no artificial colors, artificial fragrances, or animal products and it is not tested on animals. It's made from natural ingredients like extracts of organically grown hypericum perforatum, calendula, and arnica.

Now that you are armed with all of this beauty advice, your favorite celebrity will have some new competition!

Mac Makeup - Things You May Not Know About Mac Makeup And Cosmetics

The best makeup on earth is MAC makeup, hands down. Created in
1985 by Frank Toskan and Frank Angelo, MAC cosmetics were
designed to hold up to the most grueling conditions. Ordinary
drug store makeup doesn't look good under bright lights, and
most of it sweats off or wears off under normal circumstances
anyway. The chemists who created MAC cosmetics, however,
designed it to hold up to just about any challenge you can throw
at it. It's good for all ages, all races and all sexes, which
later became the company's motto.

MAC makeup is also a socially conscious brand. There are four
social initiative problems that the company currently has in
place: MAC Cruelty-Free Beauty, Back to MAC Recycling, MAC Kids
Helping Kids and the MAC AIDS Fund. Even though MAC cosmetics
was bought out by the Estee Lauder Companies in 1994 and the
original founder Frank Angelo died in 1997, the MAC AIDS Fund
has been continued by the new owners. The coolest thing about it
is that every penny of the sale of the eight products under the
Viva Glam name get donated to the charity. This has raised more
than $86 million for the charity since 1994.

If you're a makeup artist, you can get 40 percent off of the
price of MAC makeup. Other beauty professionals can get a 30
percent discount. The brand is also extremely socially diverse.
Spokespeople in the past have included everyone from RuPaul to
Linda Evangelista. MAC Beauty Icons have included Liza Minnelli,
Diana Ross, Raquel Welch and Catherine Deneuve. All in all, MAC
makeup has done a lot for the industry as well as the community.
They perfected makeup and are a great role model for other
American companies. It can be said that part of their success is
due to their acceptance of all things beautiful, and that's
something we can all stand behind.

Long Lasting Makeup - Great Tips to Make Your Makeup Last!

We invest in expensive makeup, we read up on how to perfectly
apply it, and we take the time every morning to put it on with
perfect precision. We do this, so that we can cover up those
fine lines and wrinkles without looking like we're wearing
makeup. We do this so that we can achieve that perfect moist and
dewy look without our skin looking oily. So that we can add that
subtle, yet vibrant boost of color to our eyes, making them
stand out, and so that we can achieve those perfect lips- plump
and pouty without being too whorish looking.

And isn't it disappointing when you dedicate all that time to
achieve the seemingly impossible, only to have your makeup slide
off your face a few hours later?!!

Well ladies, keep reading, because below I've included some
fabulous makeup tricks on how to get long lasting makeup -so
that it stay on all day long or all evening out!

Let's start with the very basics - moisturizer. Its important
to properly hydrate your skin before applying makeup,as your
makeup needs something to stick to (for those of you with oily
skin, it's best to use an oil free moisturizer). You do not want
to apply your makeup right after, as you need to provide your
skin with enough time to properly absorb the moisture, otherwise
your makeup will simply slide right off. Therefore, it's best to
wait 10 - 20 minutes first.

The next step is to apply a makeup primer. Primers provide a
clean 'base' to your makeup and absorb excess oils, providing
your makeup with long lasting power. They also have built in
moisturizing power, so unless your skin is particularly dry, you
can actually use a primer in place of a moisturizer. Some of the
popular ones include NARS makeup primer (which has the added
benefit of built in SPF 20), Smashbox photo finish foundation
primer, or Naked Minerals Neroli setting mist- which is actually
sprayed on after makeup application, rather than before, and
provides you with a radiant glow.

After the primer, apply a liquid foundation. Oil based
foundations tend to provide better coverage than the oil free
ones, however they also slide off more quickly. So unless you
really need the heavy coverage, opt for an oil-free foundation.
I find that the "mousse" consistency foundations also stay on
quite well, like Biotherm.

To ensure that your foundation is set in place, dust a light
layer of loose powder on top. This helps "seal" in your makeup
and blot any excess oils that may develop, providing your makeup
with long lasting power.

If you have really oily skin, you might want to try carrying
around oil blotting pads (clean and clear makes excellent cheap
ones). By blotting up excessive oil throughout the day, you'll
help stop your makeup from "sliding off" your face, keeping it
in place, where it belongs!

Next choose a blush. Your best option is cheek stain, it stays
on the longest. Cheek stain can provide some pretty powerful
color though, and it can also be a bit difficult to spread. In
which case the next great alternative is a powder based blush,
as those tend to stay on much longer than cream blushes. If you
choose to use bronzer instead of brush, also go for the powder
version over any of the creamy or liquid options.

After applying blush, head up toward the eyes. For eye shadow
that stays on all day long, try prepping your lids first with an
eye primer - like Benefit cosmetics FY eye, or moisturizer, and
then dab on a light layer of foundation to follow. Wait for it
set and then apply your eyeshadow. This should make it last
double as long!

If you use eyeliner, although eye pencil will provide you with
a slightly more natural look, liquid eyeliner will stay on the
longest.

When applying mascara, opt for a waterproof one - you never
know when you might feel the need to cry, or when it may just
start raining. Make sure to apply multiple coats for thicker
lashes and la long lasting stay.

And finally, your lips. Avoid using lip-balm right before
applying lip color- it makes your makeup slide right off. Apply
lip pencil all around the edges and then color in the insides
with pencil too. Dab on a drop of foundation to fill in the
cracks, and then brush on loose powder to set. Proceed to apply
your lipstick as usual.

Matte lipsticks are preferred. While they may be drying, they
tend to stay on much longer then their "moisture providing"
counterparts. If you're looking a "wet" finish, you might want
to apply a layer of sheer gloss on top.

And now you're finished - so relax and enjoy! There are a
million things you have to worry about or remember throughout
the day, but reapplying your makeup is simply not one of them!

Six "Sexy Lips" Tips

Full, soft, inviting lips. Want them? We all do, and now we
all can have them. Here's the kiss and tell on luscious
lips.

#1 Hands off. Let's start simple, with a line you may have
heard in your youth. Mom always told you and so will we -
stop biting and licking your lips. It smears your color and
irritates your lips. Keep utensils and pens away from your
lips. It'll keep your pucker pretty and keep lipstick off
your teeth.

#2 Hydrate yourself inside and out. Water, water, everywhere.
Be sure to drink your share. You know you need to drink at
least eight glasses of water a day. Here's another reason to
do it. Water is vital to tissue health.

#3 Protect your lips from wind and sun damage.
Always wear
lip balm with a SPF of 15 or higher. Always. And, don't
forget your lip balm. It moisturizes your lips and serves
as a base for your lip color. Wear it in place of lip color
on no make-up days. Worn under your lipstick, it'll even
help extend the life of your color.

#4 Lip liner can be a lifesaver. Lip liner serves two main purposes. It solves size and shape problems. It reins in
your color. Thin lips? Following the lip line, outline your
natural lip shape slightly beyond the edge of your lip.
Thick lips? Lucky you. If you think they're too thick
(is there really such a thing?), try the opposite.
Following your lip line, outline your natural lip shape
just inside the edge of your lip.

Lining your lips helps keep your lip color from seeping out
to the skin around your mouth. So, if your lipstick seems
to migrate, then lip liner can keep it in place. One
caveat to using lip liner: Your lip liner should not
actually be visible once your lipstick is applied. So,
choose your lip liner carefully. If the world sees an
outline around your mouth, you're using the wrong liner.

#5 Lip color sends a message.
The color you choose says
something about how you view yourself and how you want
others to view you. What does your favorite lip color say?

Pale pink: pretty and sweet.

Red: chic or daring.

Coral: fiery and adventurous.

Brown tones: classic and timeless.

In fact, browns are a universally great choice. Every mouth
can wear brown.

#6 Get glossy.
Lip gloss is not just for teens. A little
gloss worn on low-key days brightens up your face. Lip
gloss applied over your daytime makeup transforms you into
a party girl. Lip gloss dotted just in the center of your
lips creates a pouty look.

Your lips are ready... are you? You've pampered, primed,
lined and colored yourself all the way to a perfect pair
of lips. So pucker up ...

Open Your Eyes To The Magic Of Eyeliner

If you are going to put on makeup, you have to make sure that what you are applying is complimenting your looks and making you more beautiful. There is really no point in spending time to apply makeup if it will just ruin your pretty face.

One makeup that a lot of women don't know how to handle is the eyeliner. Just look around you and you will see that many women look fiercer, out of style, or simply untidy whenever they use eyeliner. Do not commit the same mistakes that these women are guilty of; read on and learn how to use this makeup accessory more effectively.

Types of Eyeliner

Pencil

The most popular type of eyeliner is the pencil. You probably have seen and used this one. The pencil eyeliner is very easy to use and quite versatile. You can use this practically for any occasion. Just be sure to choose a soft eye pencil, especially if you are just starting to learn how to apply a liner, because you don't want to hurt your eyes with hard-tipped pencil eyeliner.

Liquid

Of all the eyeliner types, the liquid eyeliner is the most difficult to control because of its fluid consistency. You need to have a steady hand in order to achieve a flawless finish when using the liquid type because it can smudge easily. Once you have mastered its use, however, the lines created by liquid eyeliners are brighter, more pronounced and a whole lot clearer.

Felt-tip

This is another type that is easy to use. A felt-tip liner is sort of a fusion between a liquid and pencil eyeliner. It's got the ease of application of a pencil liner and the consistency of the liquid type.

Cake

Before, only master artists know about cake eyeliners. Fortunately for women of today, the popularity of cake eyeliners has increased so there are many manufacturers who make them now. This is the best type to use if you want to have smoky eyes. If you don't want to invest in an expensive cake eyeliner, you can always use your eyeshadow to do the trick. Just make sure that you use a small brush to make things easier for you when applying lines on your eyelids.

Eyeliner Application Tips

Dozens of women apply eyeliner by pulling the outer area of their eyes. This is one mistake that you have to avoid. Not only will this practice contribute to eye wrinkles, you will also end up with jagged lines on your eyes when your skin goes back to the right position. The best way to put eyeliner is by gently pulling up the center part of your eyelid. This will give you a good view of the area and will also help in drawing a straighter line.

If you are just starting to experiment with using eyeliner, it would be best to choose a shade that is on the light side like brown for a more natural look. Leave the darker shades and kohl to makeup professionals.

Remember not to use liquid eyeliner for lining your lower eyelids. If you have to line your lower lids, it would be better to use a cake or pencil liner. If you don't want to look like you've stepped out of a 60's magazine, do not create thick lines. Not only will these make your eyes look fierce, but they will also highlight your flaws and make you look tired.

Lastly, you should remember to take care of the skin around your eyes. No amount of eyeliner or makeup tricks can conceal dark circles, fine lines and puffy eyes. To protect the health of your eye area, always remember to remove eye makeup before going to sleep. Lastly, use eye cream regularly. This will help protect this sensitive area and correct eye problems, such as eye bags, fine lines and skin discoloration.

Eyeliner Tips & Tricks

By learning how to use eyeliner properly, you could enhance smaller eyes, decrease larger eyes and create endless amounts of different looks for every occasion you have coming up in your future. It can be hard to imagine for many women that there is actually a technique to using eyeliner but when used correctly you can be sure to create the look of celebrities.

You want to find a happy medium between a casual eyeliner addition to your face and looking like a very high maintenance woman who cannot leave the house without a face full of makeup. Eyeliner is meant to enhance your eyes in a subtle way, when overused you are creating a look that may be more severe than you intend. To achieve the everyday look that women want for going to work or running errands, it is important to not only apply the eyeliner with a light hand but to choose a lighter shade of eyeliner rather than black or kohl. For many people these shades are far too dark and no matter how light you try to apply them, they always look too severe on many complexions.

The smoky eye is a very popular this year and although it does portray a darker image, it can still be accomplished even if you have a lighter complexion. First the key is to buy the eyeliner that offers the blending brush on the opposite end. This is the key component to achieving this look with very little effort. First you need to start from the inside corner of your eye and work your way outward, trying to make the center of the eyelid the thickest. Then take the other end of your eyeliner (the blender) or use a cotton swab to smudge the eyeliner you just created. Layering the liner with a light layer of eye shadow is the key to the smoky eye.

If you are looking for a bolder look, no matter what your complexion you buy a darker eyeliner color and instead of stopping the line ¾ of the way across the lid, going all the way across from the inside corner to the outside corner can create the dramatic look you are looking for that special night on the town. By combining this dramatic eyeliner technique with the smoky grey or black eye shadow across the liner you added as the crease of your eye lid you have created a simple and dramatic look for any event.

One of the most important factors of using your eyeliner correctly is to make sure that you are using a high quality product. You will not achieve any of these eyeliner techniques by using cheap eyeliner. By choosing brands like Maybelline, CoverGirl, Loreal Paris and Lancome, you can count on the high quality you need to make your new eye look last all day and all night. Although you will find that these products cost a bit more than others, it is more than worth it in the long run.

Take note of these great eyeliner techniques as you can create the look of celebrities in just a few short minutes right from your home. You will be amazed just how much better your makeup will look when you apply these simple techniques. Right now you may think there is nothing wrong with your eye makeup but by taking the chance on these new techniques you may be surprised just how much better you look. Invest in some great eye shadow and brushes to make sure you have the tools to create the looks listed above and the many popular trends of 2008.

Unless you're trying to create the smokey-eye look this season, aim for super-thin lines when applying eyeliner. Asian-inspired eyeliner is one of the top beauty trends for the season, and you can create that Geisha look with a Kajal pencil, dark brown or navy liner.

How to apply eye make up - eyeliner

How do you do that fantasy look seen on some of the summer fashion shows?

2 looks were prevalent. The first is fairy like with white eyeshadow and turquoise liner while the other is rock chick edgy.

For this article, I'll cover the rock star glam fantasy look for summer. The difference actually lies in the eyes. Ready?

1. Cleanse, tone and moisturize your face.

2. Apply a concealer that is lighter and yellowish over the dark rings under the eyes to neutralize the shadows.

3. Dot a foundation that matches your current skintone (with or without the tan) on forehead, nose, cheeks and jawline and blend in completely with your fingers so the foundation disappears into your skin.

4. Take a large powder brush and dip into your loose powder. Get it in a translucent clear shade or one that matches your skin tone. Dust off the excess powder onto the back of your hand. Then apply the powder over your entire face for a flawless finish.

5. Take a medium shade for your eyeshadow and apply it over your entire eyelid as the base.

6. Apply a liquid eyeliner in a bright metallic shade like cobalt over your upper lashline. Draw the line from inner to outer corner of the eye and thicken the line drastically as you move outwards. Wing out as you go beyond the outer edge of the eye for that exaggerated rock chick look.

7. Apply a glittery makeup over the liner. That glitter give you that fantasy look.

8, Put on false eyelashes. Then apply 3 coats of mascara, separating the lashes with a lash brush or comb and allow the mascara to dry between applications.

9. Apply a light pink blush on the cheeks.

10. Use a lip brush to paint on a rose lipstick for a subtle mouth that complements your dramatic eye makeup.

Natural Look Wearing Make Up

Mineral makeup looks like natural makeup for a healthier skin. Mineral makeup is made of pure natural micronized pigments with freeze-dried vitamins A,D & E. It is free of any oil, binders, talc and chemicals that can irritate sensitive skin. Mineral makeup contains only pure mineral pigments in concentrated form. Mineral makeup's purity means that it works well with most skin types and you will find that it adds a day-long youthful sheen to your skin. Natural mineral makeup and natural powder blush is kind to your skin. Mineral cosmetics have their basis in ground-up minerals, including various metal ores and iron oxide. Mineral makeup can be applied quickly and easily with a brush or sponge.

Modern mineral makeup represents a major advance not only in cosmetics but also in skincare and your overall well-being. Mineral foundation powders also contain zinc oxide and titanium dioxide that act as a reflective coating which blocks the harmful effects of the sun. Since synthetic dyes, perfumes and preservatives are avoided in the composition of mineral makeup, there is little risk of skin sensitivity to the ingredients, resulting in a considerably reduced risk of longer-term allergic reactions. Essential oils are used in many natural skin care products. Rose oil is used to hydrate dry skin . Lavender has a soothing affect. Oily skin can benefit from rosemary, lemon and cedar oils. Natural skin care products use oil free moisturizing ingredients such as glycerin.

Humectants are used to draw moisture into the skin and rehydrate dry skin. The benefits to the skin outweigh the added expense. Makeup tips for blue eyes are pretty straightforward. The trick is to learn which colors look better on blue eyes, and start with those, and then branch out with the colors that you are personally drawn to. Women have a unique ability to choose colors that are complimentary to them. Just because colors are suggested doesn't mean those are the only colors suitable for you to wear.

Colors For Blue Eyes

There are some colors that seem to be made for blue eyes. Icy pinks, silver, gold and violet all come to mind. You can expand your selection by also choosing taupe, gray, and other purples, like lavender.

If you want to add a little "oomph" to your makeup, try a bright blue instead. I know, I know. You've always heard bad things about blue eyeshadow. However, these makeup tips for blue eyes include bright blue eyeshadow because it will make your eyes really stand out. Try it and see what you think.

Also try turquoise, and if your eyes have green in them, mint green is a great choice. Bright pinks and fuschia are great choices as well. And if you really want to mix it up, try mixing black with another color. It will look striking and it usually best for nightwear.

Application Tips

Now, I wouldn't give you makeup tips for blue eyes without giving you tips to apply them. If you're already comfortable with your application you don't need to read on. But if you think you might like some guidelines to help you, keep reading.
Here's an example of a day look that you could do:

1.Take a silver shadow and apply it from your eyelashes to your eyebrow.

2.Then apply lavender from your eyelashes to just above the crease. Blend it well into the silver so you can't see a distinct line.

3.Then take violet and apply it in a "v" from the middle of your eyelid to the outer corner. Blend very, very well. You want it to look like a gradual change of color, not distinct lines.

4.Line your eyes with charcoal or dark gray eyeliner.

5.Apply mascara.

You can adjust the colors to be icy pink with fuschia, light and dark turquoise, gold and taupe, gray and bright blue, light blue and bright blue, silver and bright blue, taupe and green, etc. The list goes on and on.

Just play around until you like what you're seeing. You make all the choices and decisions when it comes to your makeup.
These makeup tips for blue eyes should have you seeing clearer.

How To Enhance Your Lips

Have you ever watched a movie or flipped through a magazine and pictured yourself with full, luscious lips like Angelina Jolie or Liv Tyler? I’m sure many women have longed for lips like theirs. Fortunately, women who aren’t blessed with this sexy asset no longer need to pout. If you are wondering how to enhance your lips, there are several great options available.

The easiest method of enhancing your lips is to take advantage of a few tricks often used by professional makeup artists; just add a dab of shiny gloss or high-gloss lipstick to the center of your lips. The shine causes light reflection which tricks your eyes into seeing instantly fuller lips. You can also apply foundation around your mouth area and then use a lip liner to contour your lips slightly beyond your natural lip line. Finish off with a lipstick brush to fill in your favorite color – just remember that pale shades always make your lips look fuller.

If you want to take this concept a step further, you can purchase a wide assortment of lip products such as lip enhancers or lip plumpers. For example, Hydroderm offers a product called an “Instant Lip Enhancer”. These products may contain various ingredients such as alpha-lipoic acid which is a powerful antioxidant that occurs naturally in the body, essential oils which mimic the fatty acid in your skin or even capsaicin which is an ingredient in cayenne or red hot peppers. This gives a whole new meaning to the term “hot lips”! Try out different products until you find one that truly does give you the bee-stung look it advertises.

For a longer-lasting solution to thin lips, you can consult a qualified professional for Restalyne or collagen injections. Both materials are injected into the lip and normally require follow-up visits to prolong the effect. Although the results are said to last 4 to 6 months, the injections can be very painful not to mention costly.

As you can see, you don’t have to suffer the thin-lipped syndrome any longer. Take advantage of a few make-up tricks, purchase some lip enhancing products or adopt a more drastic approach and opt for Restalyne or collagen injections. No matter what you method you choose, you will be ready to pucker up with your new movie-star lips.

10.
Practice until you get the application of your eye shadow down to a science. When you get good, your make up will look more natural and more polished.

11.
Apply your dark shadow only to the eyelids from the lash line to the crease in the eyelid. Apply your medium shadow from just below the eyelid crease to the brow bone.

Cat Eye Makeup - The Sexy Look

Cats are perhaps one species of animals which have long been mystifying men with its mysterious nature. The Egyptians, more than 4000 years earlier used to obsessively pray to cats. They have this certain unexplained air around them. This is maybe the most appropriate reason that women have been compared many a time with the cat. Furthermore, women like this too so they have developed new techniques through to get a sexy and appealing cat eye. A cat eye is a sort of a pointed make up line around the eyes to make them seem longer and more vicious. If done properly by a makeup expert, a cat eye can completely transform the average looks of a woman and can change her into a siren. However, if done badly by an excited amateur, a woman can make a complete fool out of herself. The basic process underlining the cat eye makeup scheme is not that tricky or complicated for the makeup enthusiast.

The better the makeup artist, the superior cat eyes look you will achieve with your make up. This cat eye makeup technique is widely used by fashion make up designers on their models to accentuate their facial expressions because the eyes sometime seem to betray more than they are supposed to. This dramatic effect sexy look highlights the face to give it a mysterious blend of sexy and chic style, a common tool of famous designers like Chanel, Versace, and other Fashion houses too. The trick is not as dependent on skill or use of eye shadow; it has more to do with highlighting the curve and natural shape of the eyes.

The first step to bewitching cat eyes make up is the application product and the user has two main or rather popular options which people generally make use of - a pot liner with a thin tapering or angled brush or a liquid liner. However, for first time, the most appropriate approach is two try out both because they work differently for different people and the desired results can be achieved from both. For explanations sake, suppose you decide to work with the liquid liner - an easy yet inferior choice. People usually prefer make up to use these liquid liners by reason of their ease of use. Nevertheless, it won't be much of a hassle using one. Go for one with the shortest tip of the pen. This will assist you to gain maximum control over your movements. After this, the second make up tips most important accessory is a hands free mirror which can magnify your eyes and face clearly.

Once you have all your cat eye makeup to hand, begin creating the perfect cat eyes by slowly tracing the inner corner of your eye by lightly touching it with the pen. You must ensure that these steps must be clearly and nicely done with open and attentive eyes so that you can get them right with the first shot. Another reason for opening cat eyes is because it is quite hard to imagine how a winged line will go with the face with cat eyes open if you have drawn them with eyes closed. Trace it close to the lashes and smoothly drag the pen towards the outer corner of the eye. Basically, you have to draw the eye make up lines as close as practically possible to the lash line, though they can be perfected or flattened later on. While you are drawing the lines, slightly jerk your hands to give the wrist a flick towards the outer edge.
